How to Use zkCrossDEX on Partisia: A Step-by-Step Guide to Cross-Chain Swaps

Cross-chain swaps have historically been a fragmented process, requiring users to manage wallets, bridges, and multiple interfaces just to complete a single transaction. This fragmented flow frustrates experienced users and creates a steep entry barrier for those new to Web3.

zkCrossDEX on Partisia simplifies this experience by bringing all core actions into one structured flow. Through a unified interface, swaps are executed in fewer steps, with automation handling routing, asset flow, and execution behind the scenes. The design removes unnecessary user intervention, reducing friction without compromising transparency.

The following walkthrough outlines how the platform works from login to final confirmation, offering a clearer, more cohesive cross-chain experience that’s ready for everyday DeFi.

Step 1: Log In Securely with Parti Wallet

Once you arrive at the zkCrossDEX interface on Partisia, the first thing you will see is a secure login prompt. You can select from options like Koala Wallet, Parti Wallet, Metamask Snaps, and Ledger (coming soon). Support for Koala Wallet has been newly added, giving users another option for secure and seamless access. Koala Wallet now also supports private key (PK) import, allowing users to migrate from existing wallets where they already hold a private key. In this walkthrough, the user logs in using Parti Wallet, a privacy-focused option designed for zkCrossDEX.

🎉 The “Welcome Back!” screen appears, prompting for a password. Enter it, and you’re in.

Step 2: Connect Wallet

The site now requests access to view your address and allow you to sign transactions. This step is important for interaction with the zkCross contracts.

You simply select the account and hit “Connect.” No additional network switches, RPC config, or browser extensions required.

Step 3: View Your Tokens The dashboard appears. You can see a list of tokens, including ETH, USDT, BNB, POL, and MPC each listed with live prices and 24h volume. You’re ready to trade across supported networks.

Before initiating a cross-chain swap, users must also connect their wallet on the EVM side. In this example, we use MetaMask to connect to the EVM-compatible chain. For cross-chain swaps, both the Partisia and EVM wallets must be connected.

For on-chain swaps within Partisia, only the Partisia-side wallet is required. Once connected accordingly, users can proceed seamlessly based on their swap type.

Step 4: Start the Cross-Chain Swap
The user initiates a swap from Partisia to Polygon. Choose your source chain, destination chain, and token.

Here: 35 POL on Partisia → POL on Polygon.

A real-time quote is fetched. The minimum amount required to complete the swap is calculated dynamically.

Hit “Trade.”

It’s important to note that Swaps are available based on the currently active liquidity pools, which can be seen on the Earn Page at the top.

Users also have the option to create a new pool by adding liquidity through the Earn function, enabling more token pairs to become tradable across chains. Adding liquidity to pools also makes you eligible to earn lucrative APR from the DEX usage.

Step 5: Confirm the Transaction

A pop-up appears: you are prompted to confirm details, network, amount, gas, and destination address.

🛡️ The transaction expires in 113 seconds, giving you a buffer to review.

After entering the password, the swap is initiated.

Step 6: Progress in Real Time Once confirmed, you’ll see a progress tracker:

• Swap initiated
• Withdrawal pending
• Ready to withdraw
• Token release on destination chain (MetaMask)

This replaces the black box experience typical of bridging.

Step 7: Final Confirmation A MetaMask pop-up confirms the withdrawal on the destination chain. The network fee is minimal and the tokens are released after the final approval.

✅ Tokens successfully arrive in your destination wallet.

All done. Without switching interfaces, reading docs, or worrying about gas on the wrong chain.
